It’s about a boy studying in 4th standard in a prestigious school of a small town. He was very studious and silent. He was the teachers’ pet as he always did the home works in time, and things like that… one day, he was coming to school, and suddenly… well I have no words to explain that feeling.. he saw a girl, a little cute girl. Then, after that moment, he lost himself. He finished the day’s class somehow, and went back home, happily. At home, he told his mom about the incident, and asked,”Amma, why I am feeling different after seeing her?” She replied, “My son, this is the sign that you are growing up. This always happens to boys. I’ll come with you to school tomorrow. Show me that girl, and I will take care of the rest.”
So the next day, he showed the girl to her. That evening, her told him,”hey, that girl is your teacher’s daughter, and moreover they are our family friends. So don’t worry, I’ll introduce you to her!” Thus, the intro was over. Time went by. They both became good friends. Finally, the time for final exams came. They both studied together, written the exams and passed.
Then happened the separation. That school was predominantly boy’s school, and daughters of teachers only were allowed there, that too till 4th class. So, they have no other choice than to separate. So there they went, after a year of intense friendship, to the darkness of the unknown mist…Years went by… the little boy grew up to be an engineering student. He had forgotten the girl by that time. Then, one day, in the marriage function of a relative, he saw a girl, a gorgeous one... (Oh! Now I can hear you shouting,” Stop this non sense! We have seen so many such situations in movies and stories. “Well friends, I agree to this. But, I couldn’t help it. I have to write this to take the story forward. So please bear with me). So as you would have guessed, he was almost swept away by that girl, without knowing that she was his old friend. He told his mom who was near to him,”Amma, I feel that girl is attracting me. What should I do now?” She replied,”You needn’t do anything. I will do”. She went to the girl, and chatted with her for some time, came back and told,”Hey, that is your old teacher’s daughter who was your friend long back. Don’t you recognize her?” Ok! Now he understood why that girl disturbed him so much in the first sight. Alright, now you know what would have happened and all. But sorry, the fact is that he was so hesitating to talk to her that he didn’t even went near her. However, after that day, she came always in his dreams, but he was trying to avoid the thoughts about her, don’t know why, perhaps because of the fear that she might not recognize her. One day, he saw that girl coming to his house with her mother, his old teacher. Quickly, he went inside, called his mom and told that the girl is coming, and escaped into the bathroom. (Well, I don’t know how you take this. But folks, this is true, so I can’t add colors to it to make it more attractive!) They both came inside the house. He heard his mom calling him to the guest room, but he kept calm. After sometime, he heard them saying,”Ok, We will take leave now. Tell your son also.” “OMG! Escaped this time” he came out of his ‘hide-out’ and asked mom why they came. She said, “It seems that girl is engaged to someone already. They came to invite us to the marriage” Heart-breaking for the young one! But...”Yeah! I have to take it. At least it was good that I didn’t propose her before, as it seems she has totally forgotten me.” was the immediate reaction of the guy.
Then, her mother gave an envelope to him. “This, she asked me to give it to you. They really wanted to talk to you, but couldn’t wait long. So, I think they have given you a separate invitation for the reception before the function. I do know what your feelings right now are. But make sure you don’t burst out in front of others. (And many hilarious words to console him...!) So now, take this, and attend the function happily.” He smiled, and opened the envelope. It had only two words written on it. It was...
“IF ONLY…”
