Its just some people thing...

Normally, I use company cabs for traveling to and from my home. Last Wednesday night, I missed my usual cab due to rush. Somehow, I got into another cab, along with two of my friends. The cab was half-empty, to the fact that just a couple of ladies were inside it, other than us. We started late, by around 8. The driver came in and started the cab. On the way, we actually got stuck in a traffic block at the junction. The driver was so upset, shaking his head, murmuring something to himself, he looked to be in a great tension. We were restless actually, as we had an appointment with our old friend that night. The driver looked even more restless. Then, suddenly a ring broke the silence in the cab. It was the driver’s mobile which sang. He seemed to be talking in great anger and frustration, but we didn’t know why. Slowly the block was eased and we started to move again. Still, his phone was singing there without a break. Finally, we reached our destination point. Before getting down the cab, I asked him, ”Anna, You look very upset. What happened?”

He started. He lives in the city itself, and that was his final trip for the day. He has a son, an only son, studying in a school at the outskirts of the city. That day, this boy was coming from the school, happily, playing with his buddies, singing and dancing…. Then, it happened all suddenly. A car, which was parked at the road side, started quickly, and went over the boy. He fell down on the road, bleeding, and pleading for life. This happened by around 5pm, and the road was full of passengers- 2 wheels and 4 wheels, roaming around here and there. But not even one person showed the mercy of stopping there for a moment and carrying the dying boy to the hospital. At last, some man, an old man of around 80 it seems, took the boy to a nearby hospital. GOD! There are at least a handful of ‘HUMAN’ souls in this huge world! He admitted the boy there and went off. The hospital authorities informed his mother and she went there, crying and nodding helplessly, but only to hear that her little chap left her… forever…

At this point, I couldn’t prevent myself from interfering. I asked,”Anna, You are talking about your own son??” He nodded his head, quietly with a deadly smile on his face, saying without words… “My kid is waiting at the mortuary for your money..!!”
